“To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine”
This line of our creed shows that giving to and serving others is at the core of what Delta Zeta believes in and works for. Our national philanthropies support speech and hearing and the Painted Turtle Camp.
The Starkey Hearing Foundation is Delta Zeta’s national philanthropy partner. Starkey conducts hearing missions around the world to bring the gift of hearing to those in need. In 2015, Delta Zeta pledged to raise $5 million in the next 5 years for speech and hearing and this amount will be donated directly to the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Our fundraising efforts focus on helping to achieve Starkey’s goal to fit over 1 million hearing aids in this decade, supporting its mission, “so that the world may hear.”
The Painted Turtle Camp is Delta Zeta’s National Service Project. The Painted Turtle is an organization that allows children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses to attend a week-long fun-filled camp at no cost to the family. The camp allows children to reach beyond their illness and spend a few days playing games and participating in exciting activities. Members of our organization volunteer to spend a week at the camp, located in California. This opportunity is just as rewarding to our members as it is to the camp participants that they serve.
Locally, our chapter supports a number of speech and hearing causes, including Brennen Elementary School, Camp Wonder Hands, Camp Sertoma through the North Lake Sertoma Club, and Beginnings-SC.
